Brandon Bear

National Manager - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

St Vincent’s Health Australia

A proud, queer non-binary person (he/they) who is passionate about culturally humble approaches to diversity, equity, belonging and inclusion, Brandon is currently the National Manager – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for St Vincent’s Health Australia and a Co-Chair of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and Mardi Gras Arts. They are also in the final stages of their Masters by Research project exploring salutogenic approaches to health for sexuality and gender diverse adults, essentially trying to find out “what is it about being queer that makes us healthy?”

Brandon has a long history working with communities who face marginalisation, and has honed an incredibly useful sense of curiosity as a guiding principle through roles as the Manager of Sexuality and Gender Diversity Programs for St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney, Manager of Policy, Strategy and Research for the former AIDS Council of NSW and Strategic Projects Manager for the NSW Council for Intellectual Disability.

With a desire to ask more questions then they answer, they believe that the space between not knowing and knowing is where the real magic happens.
